English Shepherds are an old Heritage breed that was selectively bred for HERDING in an upright, loose-eyed style, for GUARDING livestock, and all around ranch work. On our farm, they have been indispensable as working dogs. The Rottweiler is a mastiff type breed that traces back in history as one of the oldest European stock dogs. And until the late 1800s, herding was their primary purpose. This breed excels in difficult situations and with stubborn livestock that basically ignore smaller herding dogs.
